A brief history of the vibrator
Vibrators have a rather surprising history. They appeared in the late 19th century, during the Victorian era. Initially, they were medical devices used to treat “hysteria” in women (spoiler: it wasn’t actually a disease). Shaped like elongated objects, vibrators were intended to be inserted into the vagina.
Over time, they moved from the doctor's office to the bedroom. In the 60s and 70s, the sexual revolution exploded their popularity.
